Kangaroo population data derived from analysis of aerial surveys, harvest statistics, satellite imagery, and rainfall data in Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia over a period of 20 years.

The data consists of two Microsoft Access databases (The Queensland and South Australian Kangaroo surveys), two Excel spreadsheets (red and grey kangaroo counts) and a 257-page report that includes a number of publications based on the data.
The Microsoft Access datasets and Excel files are also held by each of the relevant state agencies and by The Ecology Centre at The University of Queensland. Raw data from New South Wales, prior to 1993, was unfortunately lost in a fire.

The project was funded by the Australian Research Council as part of its Strategic Partnerships with Industry (now Linkage) program, which involves cash and in-kind contributions from each of the industry partners. Some aspects of the work were further supported by funding from the Murray Darling Basin Commission and the New South Wales Department of Conservation.
