Variables derived from the 2006 Australian Census of Population and
Housing representing the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of populations
living in polling booth catchments.

Polling booths and Census collection districts have
been geocoded and spatially allocated to form polling both catchments. Demographic and
socio-economic characteristics of the populations living within the polling booth
catchments are measured using 48 variables derived from the 2006 Census that cover age
& sex, family & household structure, housing tenure, ethnicity/race, religious
affiliation, residential stability/mobility, digital divide, engagement in work, occupation,
industry of work, human capital, and income. The dataset also includes location quotients
comparing each variable's local value against the national benchmark for that variable.
