The collection consists of 211 photographs of Queensland towns taken between 1884 and 1893.

The towns represented include Bowen, Bundaberg, Cairns, Charters Towers, Clermont, Cooktown, Gladstone, Herberton, Hughenden, Ingham, Innisfail, Mackay, Maryborough, Mount Morgan, Mourilyan Harbour, Normanton, Port Douglas, Ravenswood, Rockhampton, Station Bores, Thursday Island, Townsville. There are also pictures of the Cairns-Herberton Railway, the Barron Falls and selected buildings.
